Frother Maintenance

Cleaning the Easy Cappuccino Frother Professional Cappuccino Frother Cleaning

The Easy Cappuccino Frother needs to be cleaned regularly.

Jura Easy Frother in pieces

We recommend at least once a week, but it is best once a day (normally at the end of the day)

  • Carefully Remove the unit for the machine by sliding it forward and down
  • Disassemble the whole easy frother into the pieces shown on the right, paying special attention to the top valve and the holes in the tap
  • Clean each piece, and reassemble
  • Re attach to the machineJura Frother Tap
  • Run about 150 ml of water through the unit to clear any residual milk
  • If you have problems frothing repeat, and run more water through
  • Make sure that when you reassemble the tap is flush with the rest of the unit, and
  • the tap is pointing upwards as shown on the left, if it is turned then the unit will not flush
  • To clean the milk tube, merly soak over night with a dash of lemon or vinegar
  • Note: if it is turned then the frothing portion of the unit is by passed.

Tip: rinse the frother with fresh water after use. To do this, dip the hose in a container of water and draw off steam until only clean water flows.

Like the Easy Cappuccino Frother the Professional Cappuccino Frother needs to be cleaned regularly.

Jura Profi Frother parts

We recommend at least once a week, but it is best once a day (normally at the end of the day).

  • Carefully Remove the unit for the machine by sliding it forward and down
  • Disassemble the whole profi frother into the pieces shown on the right. The tap should be turned to face the frothing tube, and should be gentle prized out, no excessive force should be required
  • Clean each piece, paying special attention to the top valve and the holes in the tap and reassemble
  • Re attach to the profi professional frother machineFrother breathing nipple
  • Run about 150 ml of water through the unit to clear any residual milk
  • If you have problems frothing repeat, and run more water through
  • Make sure that when you reassemble the tap is flush with the rest of the unit, and
  • the valve is properly cleaned and re-inserted
  • To clean the milk tube, soak over night with a dash of lemon or vinegar
  • Note: if it is turned then the frothing portion of the unit is by passed.

Tip: If you run water through your profi or easy-frother after you have used it, like you would milk, then you can avoid doing this maintenance

If you want to clean the tube itself a little vinegar or lemon juice in some water is good. You can always Contact Us for an extra tube

Frothing & Temperature

Micro Foam Coffee Temperature

We know some people prefect the kind of cappuccino that barista's have made famous, so how can you do this with your Jura.

Well it is actually quite easy. You do need to have an Easy or Profi frother then you also need a frothing jug, and we also recommend a temperature gauge

frothing Jug

Once you have all these goodies (the are available from us click here to read about them

  • Pour about 2.5 cm in the jug, for 1 cup we recommend a 0.6 litre jug
  • Insert the frothing tube that came with your Jura into the jug, submersing it in the milk
  • start the frothing process as normal
  • check the temperature gauge to see when 60°C is shown (or the milk is about 3 times the size it was)
  • stop the frothing process
  • let the milk settle (it takes about the same time to settle as to prepare an espresso
  • The pour the milk into the cup, and enjoy

This kind of milk is perfect for what some call a flat white, but we call a cappuccino

If you like this kind of coffee, we recommed you select a medium to full bodied coffee

The Jura range of coffee machines is correctly designed to brew coffee at the perfect temperature namely: 93°C (or 87 for some models where temperature is considered normal). The only time an Impressa will not do this is if some thing is wrong, here are some possible pointers:

  • the coffee filter is partially blocked
  • it has not been cleaned when requested, or not cleaned with a Jura cleaning tablet
  • it has not been decalcified properly when decalcification was requested
  • it has been idle for over 30 minutes and has not been rinsed (the J-5 and Z-5 detects this automatically)

We therefore suggest for following:

  • to rinse the machine into the cup before making coffee then dispose the coffee rinse, then prepare the coffee. This is good for two reasons it preheats the brewing “plumbing” and it also gets rid on dirty water.
  • Change the brewing temperature (F50 and above), see the manual on how to do this
  • If you are adding milk, the average fridge keeps milk at 4°. 4° plus 93° means the average is about a high 60°, which is perceived as cold. So either steam the milk or froth it, or if you have a profi-frother set the setting on the frother to hot milk
  • Drink from a smaller cup, the larger the cup the more likely it is for the 93° to be close to 80° by the time the coffee is finished pouring. So make a smaller cup, it also tastes better!
